Here’s the question this whole site is built around: does this gadget, gear, or app actually make me a better runner, or is it just another spec sheet with a hear rate monitor strapped to it?
I’m the kind of runner who got obsessed with the numbers — cadence, stride length, training load, cardiac decoupling, power curves — long before I fully understood what any of them meant. If you’ve ever stared at your Garmin’s “Training Status” screen and thought what on earth is CTL/ATL/TSB and why is it telling me I’m “unproductive” — same. I’ve been there. Half the reason this site exists is tht I got tired of watches and apps throwing acronyms at me without explaining why I should care.
So that’s the lens everything here runs through. I’m currently training with a Garmin Forerunner 265, I’m obsessed with hitting a new PB , how my training load gets me there, and I’ve built a few of my own tools when the apps didn’t quite give me what I needed. Instead of reviewing fear off a spec sheet, I test it against real training data: Mine.
The question to answer: does this change how you train?
What you’ll find here:
- Watch and app reviews grounded in real training data — not just battery life and screen brightness
- Honest comparisons between training platforms (Strava, Runna, Runkeeper, and others) for runners who are trying to make sense of their numbers
- Plain-English breakdowns of training science — and actual personal experience.
